Stag & Bow

Stag and Bow host a continuously evolving wide programme of workshops from beginners’ standards - knitting, crochet and understanding your sewing machine - to more advanced classes in spoon carving, felting, lino printing and more. We also run classes themed round new book and product launches. Many of our tutors are local makers.

November 15th, 22nd & 29th - Anatomy of a Sock, Fridays 6:30-8:30pm

Ever felt intimidated by the idea of knitting a sock? Over 3 sessions Linda Litchfield will break down the anatomy of a sock as you knit your way through a small scale sock (mini sock!) using double pointed needles. You will learn how to cast on and knit the cuff, the leg, the turning of the heel, knit the foot and finally the toe. This workshop is suitable for those who already know how to use double pointed needles.

All materials are included for the workshop and all participants will get to take home a beautiful sock wool, double pointed needles and a pattern to make full size socks at home!

Level: Intermediate

Tutor: Linda Litchfield

Linda has a BA in fine art textiles from Goldsmiths, London and a PTTLLS teaching certificate. She learnt to sew and knit as a child and, despite some career distractions, has been honing her skills by almost daily practice for the last fifty or so years. Her personal preference is for hand sewing and knitting but she uses a machine for patchwork, clothes-making and embroidery.

Linda frequently incorporates stitch and knit, found objects, recycled materials, old postcards and books, and aged quilts. Nonsense rhymes and folk tales are important sources of inspiration, coupled with a love of colour and an obsession with process and the hand-made.

All participants will receive a 10% discount in the Stag & Bow shop for the duration of the class.

Please note our workshops/classes are not refundable
