Workshops

Stag and Bow host a continuously evolving wide programme of workshops from beginners’ standards - knitting, crochet and understanding your sewing machine - to more advanced classes in spoon carving, felting, lino printing and more. We also run classes themed round new book and product launches. Many of our tutors are local makers.

The junior sewing school at Stag & Bow is suitable for ages 8-13 (spaces limited to 6 students)

Level 1 – INTRODUCTION TO THE SEWING MACHINE, 5 WEEKS COURSE

LESSON 1

Introduction to the sewing machine, and basic skills such as winding a bobbin, threading a machine, sewing straight lines, corners and finishing seams.

LESSON 2
Looking at different fabric, trouble shooting for sewing machines. Test sewing different fabrics. Making a drawstring sewing kit bag.

LESSON 3

Start on tote bag or cushion cover. Sewing on a pocket. Tacking the bag/ cushion cover together.

LESSON 4
Make shoulder straps. Finish project.

LESSON 5
Revisiting what we have learnt.
