A stunning light greyish brown cotton fabric, handwoven by a small cooperative in India.
An entirely handwoven fabric in a warm light greyish brown base. A stunningly chic colourway to welcome summer. It has a warm, subtly textured feel with a soft, dry handle reminiscent of linen. Chambray is characterised by the yarn-dyed process involving a beautiful blend of white threads woven for the weft, with coloured yarn for the warp - although the white, in this case, is very subtle, making the fabric appear more block colour.

Suitable for lightweight projects, particularly for summer, including blouses, shirts, easy loungewear, summer trousers and dresses, light blankets and quilts, sheer blinds and accessories. It washes beautifully and gets softer and more characterful with every wash.

Ethical and Sustainability Considerations: The fabric is handwoven on small power looms using cotton in Southern India. 50% of the cotton fibre used for this fabric is spun within small artisan clusters, and the material is woven within a community known as a "khadi cluster" in Bengal. The weavers set their prices for their work.
Fabric that is produced within the same country prevents unnecessary shipping during production. The dyes used for the material are azo-free, totally ironable, and colourfast (although we always recommend washing your fabrics before you sew).

To care for your product
Suitable for washing machines and tumble dryers. To protect fabrics for longer, hand wash in cool water. Suitable for irons med-hot temperature.
Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 a year.
We also recommend line drying as this reduces energy usage and looks after your textiles for longer (as they don't get bashed around in your tumble dryer). Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher or even steam the item you've made in your bathroom after a shower.
Natural handwoven fabrics have a natural tendency to shrink 3-5%, so please wash this textile before you create any products that will require washing at a later date.

Due to the nature of handwoven and hand-printed fabrics, there can be irregularities in the weave and print, along with variations in batch dye colour. We have quality controlled this fabric. However, there could be minor irregularities that we love and see as normal and charming.
