Light Organic Cotton Twill - Concrete
A lightweight organic cotton twill fabric in a cool concrete grey. A beautiful, high-quality fabric. It is wonderfully pliable and drapes well, with a natural bias grain stretch in both directions due to the twill weave. There is a small amount of give in the cross-grain, so overall, this will be a comfortable fabric for many garments, including shirts, very light trousers and shorts, skirts, dresses, and dungarees, and would even work as a lining for a chunkier item of clothing. It is also appropriate for curtains, blinds and cushions, or for quilting. The colour is smooth and consistent, and the fabric washes very well.

Ethical & Sustainability Considerations
The yarn is produced by GOTS Certified spinning mills across 3 states in India. The yarn or fabric dyeing and fabric weaving are all conducted within sub-contracted GOTS Certified mills. This community is a co-operative of skilled artisans consisting of 600+ members across a small region of India.
Organic cotton is cotton grown without pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers and is picked by hand to retain the integrity of the cellulosic fibre. Non-GMO seeds are used in organic cotton cultivation, ensuring that the farmers are not caught in a web of debt with large companies.
This is GOTS-certified organic cotton. This means that no harmful chemicals, pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers were used throughout the fibre cultivation, fibre harvest and processing, to the yarn production and weaving.
The yarn is machine-spun, which means it has exemplar consistency and quality throughout the weave, and the fabric is then machine woven too. High-quality fabrics will last longer - and the longer we can stop textiles from being disposed of, the better for the environment. The dyes are certified azo-free - azo is an organic compound used in dyes and is a known carcinogen - and all fabric is dyed within a GOTS-certified mill.
Due to the care and consideration of the low-impact processes, this fabric is certified under the Global Organic Textile Standard for spinning, dyeing and weaving.
Care
Suitable for the washing machine and tumble dryer. Iron med-hot temperature on the reverse to prevent the shininess of the twill from occurring.
Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 a year.
We also recommend line drying as this reduces energy usage and looks after your textiles for longer. Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher or simply steam the item you've made in your bathroom after a shower.
Suitable For
Bags and Accessories, Belts, Blinds, Curtains & Pelmets, Embroidery, Hand Sewing, Linings, Machine Sewing, Shirts and Blouses, Skirts & Dresses, Soft Furnishings, Tops and Tunics, Trousers & Shorts
This fabric is perfect for lightweight garments. For something more heavy-duty, like a heavy jacket, we would recommend lining it; this is because light will travel through it if you hold it up and would benefit from the structure of a lining or interlining.
